After World War II, the demand for telephone service was high, so Rockwell’s image of a telephone lineman working on wires was common. By 1948, 30M telephones were in service. Nowadays, cellular towers are required for wireless devices to supply fast and reliable service. As of December 2014, there were 355.4M wireless subscriber connections in the U.S.
